The Supreme Court Tuesday issued an order to the Uttar Pradesh government and Hindu petitioners on the Mosque Committee’s plea challenging the Varanasi district court’s survey order, reported news agency ANI. The court will hear the matter again on May 19. Meanwhile, the Varanasi court Tuesday removed advocate-Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra from his post. Mishra was responsible for the filming and carrying out the survey of the Kashi Vishwanath temple-Gyanvapi mosque complex. The court also granted two days extension for the submission of the committee’s survey report. Earlier on Monday, the Varanasi court directed the district administration to seal the spot in the mosque complex where a Shivling was claimed to have been found during the videography survey. The Supreme Court was hearing a plea by the Committee of Management of Anjuman Intezamia Masjid, Varanasi,  challenging the videography survey ordered by a local court  of the Maa Shringar Gauri Sthal in the complex. ...

Gyanvapi mosque case: Seal area where ‘shivling’ found, allow no one, orders Varanasi court

Returning the spotlight to the Kashi Vishwanath temple-Gyanvapi mosque controversy, a Varanasi court Monday directed the district administration to seal the spot in the mosque complex where a Shivling was claimed to have been found during a court-mandated videography survey that just concluded. The Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee said it would challenge the order in the Supreme Court where it had already moved a plea against the videography survey. It said the object being described as a Shivling was part of the fountain in the wuzu (ablution) area. Civil Judge (Senior Division) Ravi Kumar Diwakar, hearing a plea by five women seeking permission for daily prayers at Maa Shringar Gauri Sthal on the outer wall of the mosque complex, said, “District Magistrate, Varanasi, is directed to immediately seal the place where the Shivling has been found. India Rejects 'Farcical Resolution' Passed In Pakistan National Assembly On Delimitation Of J&K

India rejected a 'farcical resolution' by the Pakistani National Assembly on Tuesday and said the country has no locus standi on matters that are internal to India. This statement was issued in response to media queries regarding the resolution passed by the Pakistan National Assembly regarding 'Delimitation in the UT of J-K'. "We categorically reject the farcical resolution passed by the National Assembly of Pakistan on the subject of the delimitation exercise in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan has no locus standi to pronounce on or interfere in matters that are internal to India, including the Indian territories under Pakistan's illegal and forcible occupation," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a statement.
